Edwin Sifuna, born Edwin Watenya Sifuna is a controversial Kenyan politician currently serving as the Secretary-General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Before becoming the ODM Secretary- General he had vied for the Nairobi Senatorial position before being defeated by Johnson Sakaja.
Sifuna has on several occasions found himself on the wrong side of the law for abusive language. After MP Aisha Jumwa left the party furious Sifuna attacked her verbally and the women rights groups came blazing to attack him in what they termed as underestimating women.
He was also blasted by social media users who were not pleased with his cruel words. However, despite his ups and downs he is one of the politicians loved and hated in equal measure and today we look at this political journey.

Career
The ODM Secretary-General began his political journey in 2013 after he contested for a member of parliament sit in Kanduyi. However, he never won the seat and he came all the way from Kanduyi to Nairobi.
In 2017, he had managed to be so close to ODM’s Party leader Raila Odinga. Taking the advantage of the closeness he dived into the senatorial race in the 2017 election facing, Johnson Sakaja, Suzanne Lengewa, and Dennis Nthumbi.
Sifuna had a well-drafted manifesto that he used to try and persuade the people of Nairobi to vote for him, in his manifesto he emphasized on improving slum areas. In addition, he also had Raila’s full support.
After a tough political battle, he was badly defeated by Johnson Sakaja with a huge margin. During the campaign period, he managed to establish his name on the political map since he was very vocal in all ODM’s campaigns.
