Renson Mulele Ingonga is the current Director of Public Prosecution following his appointment on August 2023 followed by his swearing ceremony on 25th September 2023. Ingonga took the helm from, Noordin Haji who was moved to a higher rank in the National Intelligence Service where he’s serving as the Director General.

Mulele hails from the Luhya community, born and raised in Kakamega county, however, his date of birth is still unclear.
Education Background
The Kakamega-born ODPP holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi. On top of that, he also holds a Master of Laws degree in International Criminal Law from the University of Cape Town.
Career
Mulele has a clean and traceable working record in the civil sector. His journey to serving the public began almost two decades ago starting off as a land registrar in Kilifi County.
In this capacity, he served for 8 years before joining the office of ODPP (DPP then) in 2013 moving to the Nairobi branch. Through hard work and determination, Mulele managed to rise through the ranks becoming an Assistant DPP. Other than sitting as the assistant ODPP, he was also sitting as the local head of the Northern Region Area and the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Unit at the office of ODPP.
Following his successful venture while serving in these positions, the Kakamega native rose to a higher rank in 2023 becoming the ODPP. Mulele was appointed by H.E William Samoei Ruto, taking over from Noordin Haji who had transformed the office to favor the public. Following, his official appointment, Mulele is now expected to take the prosecution officer to a higher rank than his ex-boss.
