Marcelo’s journey began at Kakamega High School, one of the schools that has a remarkable reputation when it comes to producing qualityfootball player. His tantalizing talent earned him a scholarship at the school and a bigger audience.

After finishing high school, he was lucky to land a deal with one of the biggest football clubs in the country, Gor Mahia. Marcelo joined the club in 2016, signing a six-month contract with the club, he then renewed his contract until the end of the year.

In January 2017, Marcelo landed his first deal to play outside Kenya, earning a position at Kolkhetia Poto, a Georgia-based club. However, things didn’t pan out as he had expected as he experienced different challenges including a language barrier and lifestyle.

Five months into his contract, he encountered a hamstring injury, which eliminated him from playing numerous matches. Despite the injury, he had to come back to the field without full recovery since the club was fighting against relegation.

2017 turned out to be his worst career year as he encountered another injury that made him feel like quitting the game. In 2018, he left the club to join an Albanian club, KS Kastrioti.

His stint at KS Kastrioti wasn’t that long as he moved to Sweden to join Club Vasalund, making 22 appearances and scoring two goals before leaving the club after two successful seasons.

In 2020, he moved to his current team, AIK where he has been shaping his game day in and day out. Even though his dream is to one day play for one of the biggest teams in Europe, Marcelo was excited to play for the AIK.

According to WOK.com, signing a deal with AIK was one of his greatest moments and it serves as a motivation to work hard and earn a position in Europe-based clubs.
