Vivienne Yeda, born Vivienne Yeda Apopo is an award-winning Kenyan banker and an attorney specializing in business matters.  Additionally, she is also a former chairperson of the board of directors of Kenya Power and Lighting Company. She lost her position at the utility firm after the National Treasury which owns the majority of the shares failed to support her re-appointment.

Yeda has been in the banking world for quite some time and she has served in different positions with different financial institutions. As a business advocate, she has worked as the Director of Legal Affairs at the EADB. She served in that capacity around 2006 before she moved to African Development Bank (AfDB).

At African Development Bank she worked as the Resident Representative and Country Manager for Zambia. In 2009, she went back to the East African Development Bank, however, this time around she went back as the boss of the institution as she was appointed as the Director General.

As a result, of a job well done at EADB, Yeda was recognized by the African Banker and she was awarded the African Banker of the Year Award in May 2014. The award was sponsored by the AfDB, EADB, and other institutions.

Yeda has now been serving in that capacity for over a decade now and she is doing an exemplary job. Two years later after her appointment as Director General of the East African Development Bank, she became a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Kenya on the 14th of March 2011.

In November 2020, she landed another job when she was appointed as the chairperson of the board of directors of Kenya Power and Lighting Company, one of the biggest parastatals in Kenya that serves as the only company that handles the bulk purchase and Distribution of electric energy.

Yeda served in this capacity for two years before leaving the docket to Joy Brenda Masinde in 2022.

Though the company faced different challenges during her tenure, the intelligent lady managed to work hand in hand with other leaders to ensure the company doesn’t go to its knees.
