Olive Burrows, born Olive Kalekye Burrows is an award-winning journalist, anchor, and proficient writer. In addition, she is also one of the most adorable media personalities in Kenya. Currently, she is working with Nation Media Group on NTV hosting the NTV Weekend Edition show.

Burrows came to the limelight in 2015 after she interviewed former US President Barack Obama. She attracted the attention of so many citizens since she was the only journalist who was given the opportunity in all media houses.

Her right choice of questions while conducting her interviews always makes her stand out from the rest. Apart from Barack Obama, she has also interviewed other high-profile guests including Antonio Guterres, a UN Secretary-General, Achim Steiner, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Administrator, Melinda Gates, and others.

Olive Burrows Age and Place of Birth

Burrows was born in Kenya and celebrates her birthday on the 16th of October. However, her year of birth is still unclear.

Family

She is the only child in her family, her mother hails from the Kamba community while her dad was from a British father and a Tanzanian mother. Olive also has a half-brother and sister.

Olive began her career in 2007 working at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as an intern. Being an eloquent writer she has contributed to numerous publications such as True Love, Destination Magazine, and East African Magazine (EAM).

After completing her internship she joined Nation Media Group the same year working as a contributor. She served in that position until 2009 before moving to Capital FM in 2012 where she worked as a reporter for six years.

Olive rose to fame in 2015 when she interviewed former US President Barack Obama when he visited the Country. She was the only journalist who got the chance and seized perfectly with many people applauding her interviewing skills.

In 2018, she switched from Radio to TV when she joined NTV as a news anchor. She was paired with a well-known newscaster and an investigative journalist Dennis Okari.

The two formed an on-screen bond that left many people thinking they were dating, claims which she later denied and cited that they had just grown comfortable with each other. Olive said she was very grateful to Dennis Okari since he was the one who guided her in the first days on NTV. Currently, she is the host of NTV Weekend Edition.

Olive Burrows Education

The gorgeous news anchor attended Malezi Primary School in Lang’ata. She then proceeded to join Kenya High School, in high school, she experienced fees challenges after her mother was dismissed from her job.

Despite the challenges, she managed to complete her high school level through the help of her relatives. She was then enrolled at Daystar University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
