Nixon Korir alias ‘General’ is the former MP for Lang’ata constituency and the current CAS for Lands and physical planning.
The young Kenyan politician served as a member of parliament for Lang’ata between 2017 and 2022. He was keen to keep his position in the general elections in August 2022, but it was declared that Felix Oduor, also known as Jalang’o of the ODM, had defeated him.

Between 1990 and 2000, Nixon Korir attended Oldebes Primary School, where he took his KCPE tests. After that, he traveled to Moi High School Kabarak, where he took the KCSE exams in 2004.
Korir enrolled at the University of Nairobi in 2006 and eventually earned his law degree there in 2011. The politician worked as a congressman at the university. In 2008, he was elected the secretary general of the SONU now UNSA, the University of Nairobi Students’ Association.

William Ruto, a former deputy president, has Korir’s unwavering backing. Under Ruto’s leadership, he served as the No Camp’s national youth leader in 2011. The referendum was being held during this period, and Raila Odinga’s ‘Yes’ faction, which was leading the ODM party, triumphed. Additionally, he was hired to serve as the personal assistant for Eldoret North’s constituency’s member of parliament.
He joined URP later in 2012 and ran for the Langata parliamentary seat, losing to Joshua Olum of ODM. He ran for the same seat again for the 2017 general election, this time running under the Jubilee party, and was successful.

In 2022, Korir was prepared to defend his seat but fell short to Jalang’o. “From the results that we have tallied at the Generali center, my competitor Jalang’o has a lead,” he said in his concession speech. “I want to congratulate him as he prepares to take the mantle and move Lang’ata forward.”
