Maj. Gen (Rtd)Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa is a former military man currently serving as the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Energy. The former soldier also served as the Director of Immigration Services a position he held for four years starting in 2014 until 2018.
After that, he was then appointed as the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services in the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.

Education Background
Kihalangwa is among the few Kenyans who hold a Ph.D. degree, Kihalangwa received most of his education during his military days. During this stint, he studied different courses as well as Strategic Leadership training both locally and internationally.
He’s a product of the National Defence College (K), National Defence College ‘ensp’ (RSA), and Defence Staff College (K). He acquired his Ph.D. and Master’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from Washington International University (WIU) in the U.S. On top of that, he holds a Diploma in Strategic Studies and a Diploma in International Studies from the University of Nairobi.
Career

His career began in the early 80s when he joined the Military as a Cadet officer which is among the lowest ranks in Kenya’s military setup. He served in this capacity with due diligence which resulted in to rise in the ranks in the military.
He rose to Major General’s rank before being appointed to serve as the Assistant Chief of General Staff. As an Assistant Chief of General Staff, he was in charge of Personnel and Logistics.
After serving in the military for over three decades, Kihalangwa finally hanged the boots in 2014 as Major General. After his retirement from the army, he moved to the Civil service sector as he was appointed as the Director of Immigration services in 2014.
