Linus Kaikai (Linus Joe Kaikai) is a renowned and award-winning Kenyan journalist serving as a Director of Strategy and Innovation at Citizen Tv. On top of that, he also serves as the Chairman of the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG).

He also hosts a popular current affair programme, News Ngang. The programme also features other journalists including Yvonne Okwara, Francis Gachuri, Joe Ageyo, and Jamila Mohamed.

Kaikai was the first journalist in Kenyan history to moderate the first presidential debate. His exemplary skills when it comes to interviews made him the best fit to interview a number of celebrated African leaders.

Some of the leaders he has interviewed include the greatest freedom fighter Nelson Mandera, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

Kaikai has produced several documentaries that were ranked at the top. He was the producer behind The Rift in the Valley in 2008 and Across 18 holes.

He is happily married to Jecinta Mueni, a group production manager at Ogilvy in Kenya. The two met back in 2005, according to Kaikai the moment he saw he knew she was the one.

Three weeks of dating was enough for him to trust her with his ATM Card. On 22nd December 2012, the two tied the knot at Nkoroi Catholic Church in Kajiado County. The two are now blessed with three children.

Fallout With Emmy Kosgei

Before he got married he was dating a celebrated gospel musician, Emmy Kosgei who is currently married to a Nigerian Pastor. The two parted ways in a nasty and messy breakup.

According to Emmy, things started going south after Kaikai and his colleagues were involved in an accident in 2012. During that time she discovered that Kaikai had nine “baby mamas” that she knew nothing about. To make matters worse some were his colleagues.

Since she could not take it anymore she had no option other than to break up with him. Kaika being a public figure, news about his alleged baby mamas spread like a wildfire all over social media.

Just like any other person he tried to fire back by spreading rumors about Emmy Kosgei and the Nigerian Pastor he was to marry.

The veteran journalist began started his career in the late 1990s working with Standard  Media Group on KTN. In 1999, he moved to South African Broadcasting Corporation working as a correspondent.

He worked with the station for eight years where he rose from a correspondent to a Burea Chief. He then made his return to Kenya and joined KTN again this time as a Managing editor in 2007.

As the Managing editor, he was responsible for Quality and Product Development. He served in that capacity for two years before moving to Nation Media Group on NTV.

With NTV he was working as the General Manager, in this capacity he was taking a lot of risks just to make sure citizens are informed. After completing his tenure at NTV he joined Royal Media Services one of the biggest media houses in Kenya.

Following his successful career and the experience, he had acquired he was hired as the director of strategy and innovation. Moreover, he also chairs the Kenya Editors Guild, a professional association for editors in Kenya.

In 1997 he was awarded the CNN African Television journalist. After that, he won the environmental journalist of the year in 1998.

Conflict With Pastor Ng’ang’a

Pastor Maina Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism and owner of Sasa Tv is one of the controversial pastors in town. In 2019, Linus and Pst Ng’ang’a were involved in a feud that lead the pastor to threaten the journalist.

Linus went ahead and reported the City pastor leading to his arrest. He was later released with a bail of Ksh 200k.
