James Smart, born James Obuya Smart is a Kenyan journalist and a news anchor working at Nation Media Group on NTV. Just like his name “Smart”, he is one of the smartest and most stylish news anchors in the country.
Being born and raised in a single room in Korogocho aroused his hunger for success at a very young age. While growing up his background was his greatest motivation and working hard to secure a better future was his only mission.
As a young lad, he really admired being a journalist but he had never seen one until their house was swept away by the Nairobi river after its banks burst.
After the hard work and perseverance, he is now living his dream, having worked with several Television stations and radio stations.

The established journalist was born on 6th June 1984, in Korogocho, Nairobi slums. He will be turning 38 in June 2022.
James Smart Family
Smart was raised by his grandmother Prisca Atengo Smart and his little-known grandfather. His grandparents lived in a single room in Korogocho where he was raised. His grandfather was an office messenger while his grandmother stayed at home.
Education
He attended Baba Dogo Primary School for his primary level. After that, he joined St Paul’s Lugari Boys High School in Kakamega passing his KCSE with very impressive grades.
Just like many slum kids after high school, he went back to slums despite passing the exams due to lack of school fees. By God’s grace, he landed a scholarship to pursue Journalism at Catholic University.
In 2015, he managed to travel abroad to further his studies at the Cardiff University in Wales, United Kingdom, graduating with a master’s degree in international journalism on Chevening scholarship.
James Smart Wife and Kids
The tall dark and handsome journalist is already off the market. He is married to a fellow journalist Rehema Majala, host of the K24 Alfajiri show. The two have one son Riley Kwamusonzi.
