6. Kabaa High School
Kabaa High School is a boarding secondary school for males in Mbiuni, Machakos County. In 1924 Dutch priest Fr. Michael Witte of the Holy Ghost Fathers founded the institution.
The boys’ school had 35 students when it first opened, but in 1939 it was transformed into a teachers’ training college, a primary boarding school, and an intermediate school. Kabaa was founded as a secondary school in 1960 and became an intellectual powerhouse for 20 years until the government seized it from the Catholic Church and caused its decline.
