The school’s history can be traced back to 1905 starting as a commercial training center where local girls were taught different teachings including religion, arithmetic, English, needlework, and vernacular.

Through their teachings, it attracted many girls to join the school with most people terming it as the best place to choose a wife and for this reason, it was highly valued. In 1944 it became a full primary school and intermediate school this time attracting even the nearby boys’ schools. However, in 1952 the boys were shifted to the now Kima Primary School.

With the girls being left behind the school grew and transitioned to be one of the best Girls’ schools in the Kenyan academic system. The school has produced notable individuals including Amwomo Wako the mother of Amos Wako the former Busia Senator who also served as attorney general in the republic of Kenya. Sally Kadot a radio presenter is also an alumni of the school.
