Alliance High School KCSE Results

Alliance High School well known as ‘Bush’ is one of the highly-ranked public national secondary schools, located in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. The top-performing boy’s school was founded in March 1926 by the Alliance of Protestant Churches known as The Church of Scotland Mission which goes by the name of the Province of Kenya (CPK), African Inland Church (AIC), and Methodist Church.

The school was the first secondary to offer education to African students as most of the schools back then offered education to Europeans. For over 10 decades the school has thrived to become a giant in the academic scene in Kenya.

Being a Christian-founded school discipline has been a key to their success and they have been ranking at the top for almost all of years. In 1960 it was ranked first in the country and went on to hold that record for 25 years until 1985.

In 1986 it lost its streak and dropped to third position and went on to miss the first place for over 2 decades reclaiming it back in 2005. After that, they lost it again earning the third position in 2006.

In 2009 they were back to the top and went on to secure the top position in 2010 and lost it again in 2011 becoming second place.

Just like their motto “Strong to Serve”, in 2013, they reclaimed their first position earning a mean grade of A- beating the likes of Kenya High and Mang’u.

With such tremendous results year by year, it has become one of the most coveted schools in Kenya and all boys who are done with their primary-level education want to join. However, the school has limited chances every year and it gives priority to top-performing pupils from each county.

Each year, they recruit over 450 boys hailing from different backgrounds and counties with pupils from public schools earning top priority. With a strong alumni network, the school manages to cater to students coming from poor backgrounds by paying tuition and boarding fees.

Despite being a Christian-dominated school, students who practice other religions like Islam are also given the right to perform their prayers just like Christians. Since the school doesn’t have a Mosque, the student has a separate room where they conduct their prayers.

For decades, the school has managed to admit over 98% of its students to the University through direct selection. In this article, we analyze their recent results.
