During this summit, the East African Community anthem, “Wimbo wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki,” was approved.

The East African Community (EAC) is an intergovernmental organization comprised of six African Great Lakes countries in the continent’s east. Kenya, Burundi, South Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania are among them.

The heads of state of the six countries agreed to adopt the EAC anthem in order to strengthen the integration process among these countries.
