Born Nancy Wanjiku Karanja, Shix Kapienga celebrates her birthday on the 27th of April every year with 1987 as her year of birth.

She was born and raised in Kangemi, Nairobi where her parents live up to date. Having grown up in the hood, she is well articulated with Nairobi life and has a good taste of ‘Sheng’, a street language that is predominantly spoken in Nairobi estates.

The 34 year old actress has two sisters and one brother as siblings whom she loves dearly.

As a young girl, Shix Kapienga attended Westlands Primary School and Good Samaritan Primary School for her primary education. She then proceeded to Mirithu Girls’ High School and Kangaru Girls’ High School for secondary education.

One of the little known things about her is that she is a big fan of sports and gaming activities. In a past interview, she revealed that while in school, she spent much time playing different games spanning football, handball and volleyball but found volleyball to be her favorite.

After completing her high school education, she enrolled at Daystar University for a course in mass communication.

She started her career on TV, playing the character Tasha on the show Beba Beba which aired on NTV. This gave her a platform to develop her career, interact with her fans and build her brand as an actress, journalist and an event emcee.

She later got other roles to play in different programs including Shuga, Papa Shirandula and Nairobi Half Life. In these programs, she played a character that reflected young girls facing various challenges in society such as domestic violence, rape, discrimination and gender based violence.

She once reminisced that her role in these programs aided in unveiling the many evil things that happen in darkness to the public, hoping they would be brought to an end.
