Florence Bore is a Kenyan Politician, Member of Parliament, and the nominated Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

She was previously serving as a member of parliament for the Kericho constituency before her elevation to the position of minister. She is one of President William Ruto’s diehards who vehemently supported his 2022 presidential bid.

Her nomination to the cabinet is subject to vetting and approval by the national assembly before she is sworn into office to begin her duties.

Florence takes over from her counterpart CS Simon Chelugui, who was serving in the docket before he was switched to the newly formed ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs.

Bore joined St Patrick’s Primary School for her primary level education and later proceeded to Kipsigis Girls High Schools for her Secondary Education. She completed her high school education in the year 1989.

She then enrolled for a diploma in teacher training at Kagumo teachers training college. She later joined Mount Kenya University for her bachelor’s degree education.

Florence Bore Career

After completing college, she worked as a teacher for many years where she was employed under the Teachers Service Commission. In 2015, she was appointed to serve as the director of the geothermal development company.

Florence worked as the director of Geothermal Development Company, an illustrious position. Her role in the company has made her name a household one due to the nature of the service she delivered for the company.

She joined active politics in 2017 when she vied for and won the Kericho constituency parliamentary seat under the Jubilee party ticket. In the 12th parliament, she served as a member of the budget appropriation committee.

During the pre-2022 general elections campaign, she threw her support behind now president William Ruto, who was vying for the top seat on a UDA ticket. She accompanied ruto on his campaign trails and drummed support for him in her home constituency.

After Ruto emerged victorious, she was named as a cabinet secretary for the ministry of labor and social protection when the president released the list on Tuesday, 27 September 2022.
